Michael Kaplanidis, the founder of Water Street, a tax prep and planning enterprise, came to us looking for a website that reflected their values. He wanted to show potential customers that his firm is trustworthy, authoritative, and would be there to hold their hand through every step of a sometimes stressful process.

Rather than use cheesy stock photos (the bane of every tax website from H&R Block to Turbotax), Upstatement wrote simple headlines and augmented each with quirky illustrations that position Water Street Tax as a sophisticated yet friendly company to do business with.
