We’re excited to introduce Baselayer. Inspired by our experience building products from zero to one, it’s an internal tool that empowers technical and non-technical team members to safely manage product data, helping businesses get off the ground faster.
Over the years, we’ve built versions of this tool for many of our clients, after observing the same cycle unfold across various companies: Early in a product’s lifecycle, teams rely on engineers to make all database updates directly in code. As the product grows and becomes more complex, engineers spend increasing amounts of time managing content over developing meaningful product features. Imagine you’re a company building a social reading platform (like Threadable). Should a developer spend time updating book titles and artwork, or focus on creating the best social reading features?
An easy-to-use tool that distributes data management tasks evenly across a team solves for much more than an engineering bottleneck. It enables product managers, customer support teams, and sales teams to work more quickly and efficiently. For a product early in its lifecycle, time is its most valuable resource. Every engineering minute spent on administrative tasks is an advantage lost, progress sacrificed, and innovation dampened.
Our first version of Baselayer is simple yet effective. Teams can connect Baselayer to their application using our SDK in as little as fifteen minutes. From there, they gain access to an intuitive, streamlined platform that empowers everyone to safely create, read, update, and delete data. Those capabilities are backed by robust data security—Baselayer is equipped with features that let admins see who is viewing, editing, and deleting data.
We’re launching a private alpha and are looking for the right early adopters. If your team is facing the challenge of database management, we’d love to hear from you.
