Emerson Collective Climate Science Fair

The look of an optimistic Climate Science Fair in NYC.

Emerson Collective invests in those working to create a world of abundance, using a range of tools and strategies. Along with a new digital home that reflects the organization’s breadth of work, we established the brand identity and content strategy for their annual Climate Science Fair in New York City. The Fair showcases entrepreneurs and innovators with big, bold, optimistic climate ideas that aren't just possible—they're already making a difference.

The Climate Science Fair is a cornerstone of our ongoing partnerships with the climate tech and climate tech VC communities led by Laurene Powell Jobs. (You can spot a few of our other collaborators, like Commonwealth Fusion Systems and Anthro Energy, participating in the fair.) Taking place on New York City's High Line, the multi-day, high-profile event is a critical touchpoint for informing, inspiring, and galvanizing the public towards action on climate change.

To produce an effective event and help establish it as a standalone annual institution, we developed and applied the brand and content strategy to both pre-event marketing initiatives and the event design.

Hand-drawn illustrative icons depicting concepts like clean energy, environmental harmony, and advanced technology.

Given the overwhelming and complex nature of the topic, we prioritized approachability. The visual brand's handmade-feeling typography, trading-card structure, and color palette welcomed people in. The fair was organized around human needs: food, homes, energy, and nature. This arrangement of a vast array of ideas helped viewers absorb concepts more effectively and make their own connections.

Everyone knows climate change is a problem—the question is what to do about it. Alongside the big ideas at each booth, we included a few easy and actionable tips that viewers could apply to their own lives. Highlighting that these futuristic-sounding technologies and techniques are already in action—and that there are simple ways to support the fight against climate change—kept viewers engaged and supports Emerson's ongoing campaign for public education.

After the event, the marketing site was transformed into an archive, extending its role in supporting the broader Emerson Collective climate portfolio.
