As a startup building new sensor infrastructure to collect never-captured data and unearth critical new details, Matter needed to build their brand from the ground up, and in a way that would resonate with clients across a broad set of industries ranging from national security to climate tech. We consulted on their larger brand strategy and positioning while designing a compelling, meaningful brand language and launching their first website.

Matter is driven by an unwavering respect for the planet and its beauty, phenomena, and mysteries. The brand needed to convey that depth, alongside their process of rigorous collaboration; with their partners, Matter seeks to make discoveries and generate insights that are paradigm-shifting for people and planet. It's complex work, but the impact is clear.

Built on the concept of framing Earth, the logo is a structural brand foundation. It references Matter's technical capabilities while assigning value to the richness of the world within that frame. And Matter offers a disciplined technical application of the highest order, but as they'll tell you, it's also kind of magical-feeling. The vibrant X-ray iconography throughout the brand assets lives at that intersection of excitement and precision.

As a whole, it's a holistic brand system that flexes to provides a clear throughline expressing Matter's offering—who they serve, those users' needs, and the ultimate impact of Matter's technology.
